Anouk is a film editor. Based in the Montreal area, she works on both documentaries and fiction films.
A graduate of the École des médias at the Université du Québec à Montréal, Anouk Deschênes has edited a wide range of movies, from fiction short films, such as Marc-Antoine Lemire’s PRE-DRINK and Meryam Joobeur’s Brotherhood, to documentary feature films, including Mikaël Huot’s Le spectre des ondes, Hubert Caron-Guay and Serge-Olivier Rondeau’s Ressources and Ido Mizrahy’s The Longest Goodbye.
In 2018, Anouk was nominated in the “Best Editing in a Feature Length Documentary” category at the Canadian Screen Awards for Manic by Kalina Bertin, and the same year she won the Prix Iris for “Best Editing in a Documentary,” also for Manic. In 2021, she received a second Prix Iris nomination for her work on Mira Burt-Wintonick’s documentary Wintopia. More recently, she won the 2024 Canadian Screen Award in the “Best Editing in a Feature Length Documentary” category for Ido Mizrahy’s The Longest Goodbye.
For a number of years now, she has been involved in the organization Les monteurs à l’affiche, which focuses on the editing of films by inviting the editors to a discussion following the screenings. The aim is to share the difficulties and beauties of a profession often considered to be “behind the scenes.”
